If u try to format a pen drive/flash drive/memory card/portable device or any removable media and you get a message " Can't format this drive " or " drive is in use " , here is the solution for you to format your device.

Firstly you want to know why this is happening. There are mainly three reasons for this.

1. Virus or Trojan is infected
2. Chip board (flash chip) of your pen drive/flash drive/memory card/portable device is corrupted.
3. Fake pen drive/flash drive/memory card/portable device.

Solution 1: Scan with the antivirus application and remove all Virus or Trojan and restart your computer. Now onwards you can format your pen drive/flash drive/memory card/portable device. If you don't have a Antivirus application right now, do the below thing is a must to avoid spreading the virus on your computer.
Don't double click on pen drive.
Cancel the Autorun operation if it starts automatically.



Solution 2: Chip board corruption is due to some rough use or the device is dropped down from your hands or some thing same like that. If you are lucky, you will get replaced it if the warranty period is not over. Otherwise no solution for it.
Solution 3: Beware! There are lots of fake pen drive/flash drive/memory card/portable device are available in the market with the name of branded devices. So always purchase from a trusted store with the warranty card or bill.
