If you are a system administrator and want to protect users from copying the data from their computer to their USB devices like pen drive, USB hard disk etc, use the below code to disable writing to USB devices.

Editing the Registry entries without knowledge leads to system instability and OS crash. So be careful on editing registry values.

Click START > Run

Type 'Regedit' without Quote

Locate the below path

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
StorageDevicePolicies

Then on Right Pane, Right click and create a new DWORD Value
Give 1 as value

Close and restart the computer.

Now onwards if anyone connect his USB device like pen drive or USB Hard disk drives or any USB media's , it will connect and he can read the data. but he can't copy anything from the computer to the USB device.
